Will Calder Dot Com v2.0
2010
As long as he can remember, Will has been fascinated by music & radio and knew early on that's what he wanted to do. Back in high school he created a mobile DJ service and made good money as kid spinning various parties and school dances while developing quite the following in High School as the guy that created a bunch of mix tapes of the hottest party jams of the time. Little did he know back then, he would eventually be making these 'mix tapes' for a living.
While attending college at Gateway Technical College and eventually transferring to Columbia College in Chicago, he started his radio career in 2001 at former dance station ENERGY 92-7 & 5 (WKIE/WKIF/WDEK Chicago) interning for the morning show. Shortly thereafter, Will was hired into the promotions and production departments and eventually was given the opportunity to do live air-shifts (you know, the DJ that tells you what songs played).
In 2002, looking for the next opportunity, Will sent his demo materials off to 103.7 KISS-FM (WXSS-FM) in Milwaukee and was hired as a weekend DJ. This proved to be a good move because in early 2003, ENERGY 92-7 & 5 was sold off to a spanish company, the format was abandoned and the entire staff was let go.
Later that year, he joined forces with some friends to create RADIOMIXES, a nationally syndicated radio mixshow with B96.3 (WBBM-FM) Chicago and 103.7 KISS-FM (WXSS-FM) as their first 2 affiliates. Today, these same mixes can be heard on radio stations across the country.
In 2005, Will was offered a PRODUCTION COORDINATOR position with Entercom Milwaukee which he held until 2007 when he left to pursue other opportunities, while continuing to work as a weekend DJ until early 2008. During his 7 years with Entercom Milwaukee, Will was known as the "go-to" guy for pretty much anything and everything at the cluster. He also built up quite a reputation as a nightclub DJ during his time in Milwaukee as he held several residencies at some of the largest clubs the city has to offer, including Rain Niteclub, Ladybug Club, Sugar Niteclub, LaCage Niteclub and other various guest spots.
Also in 2005, he created an internet radio station called iPartyRadio, which played non-stop uptempo dance & party music and quickly became one of the top 200 most listened to internet streams in the world during it’s 5 year run.
In early 2009, Will packed his bags and headed to South Jersey where he now holds the position of Assistant Program Director for WBZC, a radio station owned and operated by Burlington County College. He was also in charge of the student staff training program and teaches the future generation of radio talent.
And the adventure continues...
